Junior Course
The course in Years 9 and 10 draws from the four main areas of Science: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Geology. The science course has been divided into a number of units of work.
Year 9
Science is compulsory in Year 9 for both semesters 1 and 2.
All students will study the following eight units:
Reproduction
- Waves
- Communication
- Disease
- Chemistry
- Electrodynamics
- Machines
- Student Research Project
Year 10
Science is compulsory in Year 10 for both semesters 1 and 2. Students will study the following eight topics of work:
- History of the Earth
- Co-ordination
- From Quark to Quasar
- Student Research Project
- Mechanics
- Electromagnetism
- Evolution
- Genetics
Footwear and safety in Science Laboratories
Students are reminded that thongs, open-type sandals or shoes and/or gym boots are NOT permitted in practical classes. The Department of Education and Training regulations require students to wear shoes with strong LEATHER uppers and strong LEATHER OR COMPOSITION soles.
